Running for Elected Office

The Town Committee begins recruiting candidates for local office in the January prior to the election. This process normally continues right up to the Caucus which is held in July. Candidates should plan on attending at least one WRTC meeting to introduce themselves and to request the endorsement of the Town Committee.

The Town Committee begins recruiting candidates for local office in the January prior to the election. This process normally continues right up to the Caucus which is held in July. Candidates should plan on attending at least one WRTC meeting to introduce themselves and to request the endorsement of the Town Committee.

The WRTC provides complete election support to its candidates including photography, palm cards, graphic design, printing, mailing services, signage design and production and access to campaign schools. In return we expect our candidates to participate in events and various campaign activities.

Municipal elections are held in odd-numbered years for positions on the following Boards and Commissions:

All Republicans interested in serving on a Board or Commission must be endorsed by the Westbrook Republican Town Committee. Appointment to Boards and Commissions

Serving as an appointed member of a Board of Commission is a great way to get involved in our town. There is a wide range of possibilities and new openings are announced on a regular basis. Here are some of the questions you may have before you apply to fill a vacancy.

  • When do the boards and commissions meet? How often?
  • What does each board or commission do?
  • Should I have a specific background to serve effectively?
  • What will be expected of me? What else is involved?

Registering to Vote

Exercise Your Right to Vote

Voting is now more convenient than ever before. Most people still choose to cast their ballots on Election Day. In Westbrook all election day voting takes place at the Mulvey Center in the Multi-Purpose Room. Polls are open from 6:00 AM until 8:00 PM. Remember to bring a photo ID even if “everyone in town knows who you are”.

If you need a ride to the polls on Election Day or any other assistance, please contact us and we’ll do whatever we can to assist.

Obtain an Absentee Ballot

Absentee Ballot

If you can’t make it to the Mulvey Center on Election Day, you can still vote by absentee ballot.

  • Before obtaining an absentee ballot, you must first complete Form ED-3 which is available in English and in Spanish on the Ct.gov website.
  • Alternatively, Form ED-3 can be obtained in person at the Town Clerk’s Office
  • Once completed, the form maybe returned to the Town Clerk’s office or mailed to her attention at the following address:

The Westbook Republican Town Committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month in the Library Community Center. Meetings begin at 7:00 PM and are open to all registered Republicans.

Your level of involvement depends on your availability, talents and commitment. You will not be overwhelmed!
